The Motivation Behind Porta Treatment.com
Ing. L.D. Porta dedicated his life to improving the steam locomotive and as such had little time to give the technologies he developed the promotion that they deserved. Equally the way Porta worked was always with the intention that he would undertake the research and development of the technologies whilst others should learn how to use and promote them. Whilst much of his work remains known only to a few Porta Treatment.com, in a small way, intends to spread knowledge of the man and his work.
Porta Treatment.com is a not a profit driven business. Rather it has been formed for "the good of the steam engine". This motivation is at the heart of the company, as Porta would have wanted it. It is hoped that this slightly different approach to business is clear from this website and the way in which clients are dealt with. However the setting up of Porta Treatment.com is also part of a larger plan.
Following Porta's death on 11 June 2003 it was agreed by several interested parties that it was essential Porta's work be protected, furthered and promoted. To this end it was decided to form the 'Porta Foundation' to act as the body to undertaken these roles. Of course such an organization cannot exist without funding and a number of options are under consideration. The sale of Porta Treatment will be one funding stream. It is intended, in due course, for Porta Treatment.com to become part of the 'Porta Foundation' and thus will be a source of income for Foundation’s activities. Prior to the formalisation of the 'Porta Foundation' income generated by Porta Treatment.com will be channelled into activities preparatory to the formalisation of the 'Porta Foundation' and related projects.
